The Ayres Inn Bed And Breakfast was constructed in 1908 by renowned Texas Architect Atlee Ayres. The residence was built for Mr. W. Hartung who owned a grocery business in San Antonio. Mr Hartung and his wife and family lived in the house for over 50 years. In 1990 the Monte Vista neighborhood was designated a historic district and the home was listed in the National Historic Registry. The home was acquired in 2003 by the current owner Michael Eifler and major renovations were undertaken in 2006. The 1908 Ayres Inn Bed and Breakfast was opened for business in July of 2007. After only 9 months of operation, the business was ranked as the number one bed and breakfast in San Antonio. The bed and breakfast remains one of the top B&B in San Antonio.
